Nominations open for our Connecting Communities BEDSA

We’re sponsoring the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSAs) again this year, and we can’t wait to find out who will win our Connecting Communities award.

Spirit of 2012 is one of the main sponsors of the BEDSAs, which recognise and celebrate sporting excellence within Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.

The Spirit of 2012 Connecting Communities Award rewards an organisation, individual or project that has had a significant impact on bringing local communities in England together through sport or physical activity.

This year, we will particularly welcome nominations from projects that help connect socially isolated groups or individuals through sport and physical activity, while working to bring together people of different ethnicities and/or faiths.

The BEDSAs are a highlight of our year, and we’re delighted to be sponsoring them again

“The BEDSAs are a highlight of our year, and we’re delighted to be sponsoring them again, says Debbie Lye, Chief Executive of Spirit of 2012.

“We’ve kept in touch with last year’s winners of our Connecting Communities Award, the Women’s Sports Programme Manchester.

We were delighted to join a coaching session run by Manchester United Women’s FC manager and former England international Casey Stoney, offered them a coaching session, which was covered on ITV news, and to see how it inspired and built the confidence of this multi-faith group. They’ve gone from strength to strength in the twelve months since their win.”
